Tom Sacco wins the 16th Zigfield Troy Open

A flurry of birdies in the last nine holes gave Tom Sacco, of Crest Hill, IL, his second Zigfield Troy Open championship. After the first round on Saturday August 2nd, Sacco was in a tie for fifth at one over par-55, and it appeared as if a 36 hole under par score would win the tournament again. Three players were tied at one under par-53 after the first day’s play on the 1,068 yard par three golf course: Will Hickey of Burr Ridge, Glenn Groselak of Lemont and Larry Brady of Bartlett. But on Sunday, Sacco overcame the deficit with a four under par 50, tying the low round tournament record, to win the tournament with a three under par 105 total. In addition to winning this year’s event, Sacco won back in 1985.
